Excel has a color palette that is used in several ways. You can use it to color cells, rows, columns or an entire worksheet. With the color palette, you can also color text and items inside a chart.   Musical symbols like crescendos, trills and slurs can be added to finale scores using the Smart Shape tool. Like expressions, they help a performer to interpret and perform a piece. Let's take a look at how to add Smart Shape to a score. So I opened a 509 Smart Shape start and a 509 example files, and I've tiled them and placed them both in scroll view as we've done in past videos. So things like slurs and crescendo all fall under the category of smart shapes. We can access those by clicking the smart shape tool. Up on the main tool palette. And that's the one to the left of the expression tool. When I click that, notice that we get a floating palette that appears that shows us a bunch of shapes. We can add those by choosing one of those shapes and then double clicking and dragging to add it into the score. So for example over this first four measures we see the slur or phrase marking. If part of your business involves the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software, chances are you are familiar with the default colors used in the application. However, you are not limited to Excel's default colors. Excel has a swatch tool through which you can choose almost any imaginable color for the fonts, cells, borders and other colored elements in your company's spreadsheets. If you have existing palettes you'd rather use, Excel also has a color palette import tool through which you can load custom palettes saved on your Mac.

Launch Excel on your Mac and create a new workbook or open an existing one.

Click the 'Home' tab and click the downward-facing arrow located next to the Fill Color button under the Font heading. After that, click 'More Colors.'

Click the palette settings icon located next to the Palette drop-down menu. The settings icon resembles a small mechanical gear.
